USCIS Certified Translation: Spanish Documents

Certified translation for Spanish language birth certificates
Every year a number of immigrants from Spanish speaking countries including Mexico submit applications to USCIS. Applicants usually provide the certified translation of their personal documents. A birth certificate is a common type of document that many applicants submit with their other supplementary materials. In such cases applicants look for certified translations for USCIS and provide the official translation of their personal documents along with the other components of their application. It is important to meet the requirements of USCIS for foreign language documents to avoid rejections and delays. A birth certificate can also be translated from Spanish to English for other purposes. For example, a lawyer who specializes in will and probate law and is assisting a client from a Spanish-speaking country might need his client’s birth certificate translated for probate court. The birth certificate shows the full legal name of the individual who is the beneficiary of assets and in some cases their kinship with the deceased. Some individuals might need the certified translation of their personal documents for educational purposes. They might need to submit the translation of their birth certificate and academic transcripts and diplomas to a university’s admissions office.

Difference between Iranian and Afghan birth certificates
Our translators can handle the translation of official documents issued in Iran and Afghanistan. Although the two countries share a border, they issue birth certificates that are completely different from each other. Birth certificates from Afghanistan provide information about the birth certificate holder’s height and eye color, something that Iranian birth certificates do not cover. Whereas an afghan birth certificate includes a section on the birth certificate holder’s father’s military service details, an Iranian birth certificate usually only mentions the father’s first name and birth certificate number. Court Approved Arabic Translator

American companies in the oil and gas sector that have formed a business relationship with an entity in the Middle East usually rely on a contract to establish the obligations of each party. Before they begin their partnership they might draft a contract in the Arabic language. Arabic speakers on their team could assist them in the process of writing the agreement. The parties should just make sure that the Arabic speakers on their team are familiar with the legal language and can help them prepare a legally binding agreement.

Why should the American party provide an Arabic language agreement to the party in the Middle East?

If disputes arise during the course of business and the parties want to take the case to a court in Los Angeles or other cities in the United States they probably need to show that the Arabic speaking party understood the contract. If they only provide a contract in the English language the Arabic speaking party can claim that they did not understand the terms of the agreement. Once the parties decide to settle the dispute through the court system they should seek the assistance of a court approved Arabic translator. Courts in the United States use the English language document to determine whether or not the plaintiff’s allegations have merit.

Why Assign the Task to a Court Approved Translator?

Cases related to breach of contract are often very sensitive. As a result, they require the attention of a detail-oriented translator who is familiar with the industry. Court appointed translators usually have keen eyes and can effectively translate sensitive documents. For example, an oil company’s agreement might deal with the sale and distribution of oil in various markets. The translator who executes the translation of such a document must know the technical terms pertaining to the oil industry and capture the exact meaning of the original document in its translation. The parties should make sure that their translator has a strong background in the subject matter.

Certified Translation of Spanish Contracts for Courts

Who Needs Spanish Contracts Translated?
Businesses in California often form joint ventures with organizations in Latin America to increase efficiency in production or distribution. In order to ensure smoothness in their joint operations they often draft and sign contracts. Such legal documents can be used in court if one party breaches the terms and conditioned specified in the contract. Parties that plan to use foreign-language documents in CA court typically seek certified translations for courts to get the text translated into English. Individuals might also need to get a contract translated if, for instance, they lend money to a Spanish-speaking party and the borrower refuses to pay back the loan according to the provisions of the agreement. If the original loan agreement was in the Spanish language the lender can get it translated into English and present it in a court in the United States.

Who Can Translate Spanish Contracts for Courts?
Courts in the United States expect parties to get in touch with a translator who has the right qualifications to translate and certify foreign-language documents. They can only review the information presented in English. Translators who are court registered or certified can translate documents for courts. Once the translators are done with their translations they need to provide their signed certification so the courts can identify the translator.

Can I Get a Non-Certified Translation for a Spanish Contract?
Language barriers sometime pose a challenge to parties that wish to use an agreement in California courts. Law firms that just want to review the documents to determine whether it will help them in court can probably just get a non-certified translation. The non-certified translation offers an idea of what the document is about and helps the lawyers figure out if a court-certified will help their position in court. If they review the non-certified translation of the contract and decide that it won’t help them in court, they won’t need a court-certified translation.

Translation of Financial Statements for LA Courts

Not all documents that are presented in Los Angeles courts are legal in nature. Sometimes other types of documents such as bank statements are used in lawsuits. When financial documents are in a language other than English parties involved seek certified translations for courts. Plaintiffs usually select the parts of the document to use in court. Financial statements can be lengthy but not all the text is always relevant to the lawsuit. In some cases lawyers who are handling the case do not speak a second language and hence get everything translated so that they can figure out what part is relevant.

Let us assume that you are planning to submit to a court in Los Angeles a bank statement from Mexico translated from Spanish to English as a part of your evidence for a case. This Spanish-language document would have to be court certified before you can submit it to the courts. A statement coming from a financial institution is not filled with legal terminology. It is not a contract or bylaws of an entity. Nevertheless, it can be presented in a court if the amount of a transfer or total balance is in question.

Translators who handle the translation of court documents must be accurate and provide high-quality translations. If they are translating financial documents they must type in the correct numbers. Failure to translate every part correctly can have grave consequences. Bank statements are often filled with words and numbers. Therefore, they require the attention of translators who are good at translating words and punching in numbers.

We at CACFTI provide certified translations that you can take to court. We have translated many documents for the Los Angeles Superior Court. Our translators who are approved to execute the translation of documents for courts are ready to assist you. They are very detail-oriented and always double check their work to ensure consistency and accuracy. When we receive a financial statement in Spanish or any other foreign language for a client who will be taking the translations to court, we do our best to select a translator whose background and skills are closely related to the financial field.

Our Spanish translators, for instance, have seen many bank statements and translated financial documents and can handle the translation of your financial documents. We usually do not convert currencies from pesos to U.S. dollars because currency exchange rates might vary from day to day so the exchange rate on the date on which the documents were prepared could be different from that on the date the translations were prepared. However, if you want us to use the exchange rate of a specific day, please let us know. We can translate statements issued by banks in any Spanish-speaking country such as Peru, Guatemala, Spain, Chile, and Argentina. Please reach out to us and ask about our court-certified translation services for your foreign-language documents. We have translated several documents for courts and can get you certified translations for courts. Send the documents you have in mind to info@cacfti.com to get a quote, and please let us know by when you will need to have the translations.

We can translate patents, emails, contracts, bylaws, non-disclosure agreements, deeds, wills, etc. for courts.

Certified translations used for the county recorder’s office: Translations that are submitted to the county recorder must be certified and notarized. The translator has to be a member of American Translators Association or registered with the courts. The county recorder’s office has a specific certification that the translator needs to complete and sign before a notary.

Summary of Steps to Getting a Certified Translation
-To get a certified translation, please find out what documents your application requires.
-Next, scan and email us the documents and specify the purpose of the translation.
-If you need the translation urgently, you can provide your exact deadline and we will let you know if we can accommodate.
-Once you have confirmed the project with our company, wait until we finish translating your documents. We usually email the first draft to our clients and prepare the certified copy after their approval.
-If you need the certified copy by email, please let us know. We will need the correct mailing address to mail the hard copy. We will be happy to mail a copy to you and a second copy to your immigration lawyer or another third party upon request. Please ask us about this option to learn more.

Single Document Translation
Some people have a single document for us while others need multiple documents to be translated into English for their immigration application. If you are in a hurry to get a single document translated for USCIS, please send it to us as soon as possible. We usually can provide very quick turnarounds for small projects. We might offer discounted rates for documents that are strikingly similar. If, for example, you have two birth certificates that are identical except for the name of the certificate holder, we might be able to offer a discounted rate on the second one. We are committed to exceeding your expectations regardless of the size of your projects. We work hard to ensure perfection in every task we undertake.

Other Things to Consider
Many individuals who are looking for USCIS certified translations often ask us whether they need to submit their original documents. In the past USCIS required original foreign language documents. More recently, they have changed the rules and accept copies.

You do not need to notarize the translations that you submit with your application. USCIS requires foreign-language documents to be accompanied by their certified translations. Notarization is not required.

We have no way of checking the mailing addresses of the recipient. Please make sure you are providing the correct mailing addresses and unit numbers (if applicable). If you are not sure what your lawyer’s address is, please double check with him/her before we mail the hard copy.
